Provides an informative historical background to the research of Daniel Haston's life.  Although no Hastons are mentioned in the book, it does give the reader an understanding and "feel" for life in Western NC and Eastern TN prior to, during, and after the Revolutionary War.  Available through Amazon.com Probably the most complete book dealing with the NC Continental Army of the Revolutionary War.  This book presents a good record of the NC Continental Army in general, and all regiments in particular. Out of print, but generally available through Advanced Book Exchange.

Richard Waterhouse lived in the area of Knox County where Daniel Haston's family probably lived.  He interacted with some of the same people (Tiptons & Roddys) as did Daniel's family.  He also had dealings with a McComisky family in Baltimore, MD.  Available from the author.

The classic history of the county where the early Haston family settled in 1806 or so.  Published in 1835.  Although it doesn't include information on Daniel Haston or his children, it does provide much information about related people.  Reprint available from Barnes and Noble.
