The Heritage of Daniel Haston

DNA Research Data for the Daniel Haston Family

We are in the process of gathering DNA results related to Daniel Haston family research.
Contact Wayne Haston for more information.

Note:  Kent Douglas Hiestand is a descendent of Heinrich Hiestand (father of our Daniel), but through Heinrich's son Jacob.  This is significant because it strongly supports the genealogical and historical evidence that Daniel Haston was a son of Heinrich Hiestand (and a brother of Jacob Hiestand) of Page County, VA.

Donald Wayne Haston = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son David Haston.
Harry Hillman Hastain = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son David Haston.
Dwight E. Haston = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son Joseph Haston.
Frank Edward Hastings = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son Isaac Hasting.
Nathan Heath Haston = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son Jeremiah MC Haston.

Regarding Montgomery Greenville Haston - One male descendant of Montgomery Greenville Haston submitted DNA but the results did not match those of the descendants of Daniel Haston.  We need more DNA tests for male descendants of Montgomery Greenville Haston.  Contact us if you can help with this.

Person whose DNA results are presented below = descendant of Daniel Haston through his son Jesse Haston.
(His DNA test was done through Sorenson and the ones above were done through Ancestry.com.)

Note: Technically, the DNA only proves that these men were DNA-close blood relatives of Daniel Haston.  But, that information connected to genealogical records and historical data confirm that they descended from Daniel Haston (Hiestand).

To this point, we have learned through DNA testing that...

  • Wayne Haston's (descendant of Daniel Haston through his son David Haston) DNA matches (on all 34 of 34 available markers) that of a descendant of Swiss-German immigrant Heinrich Hiestand's oldest son, Jacob Hiestand (brother of our Daniel Hiestand/Haston).
Note: This, along with other facts that we know about him, indicates conclusively that Daniel Hiestand/Haston was the son of the Swiss-German Mennonite Heinrich (Henry) Hiestand who originally settled in Lancaster County, PA but moved to (and died in) what is now Page County, VA.

  • The DNA of a descendant of Joseph Haston matches Wayne Haston's DNA on all markers (43 of 43) available.

  • The DNA of a descendant of Isaac Haston/Hastings matches Wayne Haston's DNA on all (43 of 43) markers available.

  • The DNA of a descendant of Jeremiah MC Haston matches Wayne Haston's DNA on all (43 of 43) markers available.

  • The DNA of a descendant of Jesse Haston matches Wayne Haston's DNA on all (34 of 34) markers available.

If you are a male and a paternal lineage descendant of Daniel Haston/Hasting/Hastings/Hastain, we encourage you to submit your DNA for this family history research project.

We are gathering these DNA results primarily through Ancestry.com.
